The Works Skatepark

Case Study

The Works Skatepark

Development of eBMLeisure, a management system providing real-time statistics on park use, financial reporting, course bookings, product management, purchasing and mailshots.

The Works first approached PACE to help them resolve some issues in an existing piece of software. Several months later, the works commisioned a rewrite of the entire system, with increased functionality.

The requirements were:

  • keep up to date records on members
  • see who was using the park at any moment in time
  • keep track of who came to the park and when
  • produce financial reports on membership activity
  • and most importantly, stay in touch with everyone in order to generate more revenue

The application, eBMLeisure, has proved so sucessfull that it is now being offered as a licensed product. Visit the website for more detials.

eBMLeisure has given me so much more than I could have ever imagined. The ability to manage my very specific customer base and their details is immense. The integrated tools to manage the operation of the park in terms of front desk management has revolutionised the way we operate. And the power I now have in contacting my customers, keeping them informed of what we are doing and bringing them and their revenue into the park has been fantastic.

Software

Key Components:

  • Visual Basic 6
  • Access 2000
  • ASP.Net
  • SQL Server 2005
  • RFID Scanner
  • Barcode Scanner
  • Webcam

The Works first approached PACE to aid them in resolving a number of issues which were affecting an existing VB6 applciation. PACE successfully resolved these issues, allowing The Works to use their software to it's full capabilities for the first time.

The Works commissioned development of an application using ASP.Net - a more up-to-date approach and technology.

PACE also created several ActiveX controls so that the RFID card scanner, Barcode scanner and webcam could be easily integrated with the web application.

PACE successfully implemented the solution in July 2006.

In January 2008 PACE enhanced the application by building in a sales reporting suite, a course booking facility, a product purchase section and a mailshot module. The database was also migrated from Access 2000 to SQL server 2005. These improvements gave The Works the power to investigate and analyse their member data far more effectively than ever before.
