Case Study
Chalmit
|
|
Chalmit have a number of key bespoke applications, developed by PACE
which are covered by remote support from PACE. This covers Products
Management Systems, Order Management Systems and Bespoke Reporting Systems. Due to the nature of the
specialist products Chalmit design and manufacture, all these systems are all highly complex, and
all form critical parts of the Chalmit production and business process.
Chalmit rely on PACE to provide rapid cover for all these applications,
ensuring Chalmit production is always fully operational.
|
Chalmit produce specialist products for niche markets and our system requirements
are just as specific. PACE were able to meet and exceed these, often in
demanding circumstances, and continue to deliver during our current and rapid period of growth.

Software
Key components:
- Visual Basic 6
- SQL Server 2000
- Crystal Reports 9
When Chalmit first approached PACE they had an idea which had been
prototyped in Access, but needed to be turned into a real product.
PACE analysed the prototype and decided a more robust solution could
be created using Visual Basic and SQL Server as Visual Basic could easily integrate with several
SQL databases at once.
The final solution was delivered in stages over a period of several years. This avoided any large
impact to operations.
